"I injured my neck while playing high school
football. My neck was so tight that I could hardly
sit upright during school. My neck was in constant
pain. I had lost range of motion and the pain was
just getting to the point where it was
unbearable.
My friend Alan Helvig said to me, "my dad can fix your neck. He's a chiropractor." I had
never heard of a chiropractor before, but, I agreed
because I was in pain. His father, Dr. Armond
Helvig, gave me my first chiropractic adjustment
when I was 17 years of age. It was truly a miracle.
It was amazing. I could not believe how much
different I felt immediately after that adjustment.
I could move my neck again; all of the
pain was gone; and I felt two inches taller.
Shortly after I finished high school I just knew
that I had to go to college. I didn't know what
for. I just knew that I needed a higher education
and had this one simple thought: Chiropractic
helped me and I liked helping people. So why not?
And clearly, God opened every door after that.
I received my chiropractic degree from Parker
College of Chiropractic in 1985. I had some
wonderful instructors, received an excellent
education and learned how to adjust a person's
spine in three different techniques: The Thompson,
the Gonstead, and the Activator. Truly, I
was fortunate to have had first hand experience
with some of the finest chiropractic adjusters who
have served mankind in the 20th Century.
Dr. M. T. Morter, Jr., the developer of the
B.E.S.T. procedure, was the President of Parker
College of Chiropractic when I was a first-year
student. Back then I was listening to the questions
he was asking, like: "Why does the vertebra go out
of alignment to begin with? Why doesn't the body
put the vertebrae back by itself, since it is in
the body? Or, why doesn't an adjustment hold?" But,
while I was listening to this, the B.E.S.T.
procedure was not what motivated me to seek a
career as a chiropractor. Spinal manipulation was
the procedure that changed my life and motivated me
to seek a chiropractic education.
However, those questions that Dr. Morter raised
always stayed in the back of my mind, and I know
that personally I got to the point where my body
would not hold an adjustment for very long. By the
time I got to my car it felt like my adjustment
went right back out.

After 17 years of receiving
what many considered standard chiropractic care, I
had gotten to the point where chiropractors, even
excellent, proficient chiropractors with sound
technique, were no longer able to manipulate my
lower spine. My lower back was just too tight and
they could not get it to move. My mid-back was
always out; and it would always go out. It just
seemed like it moved too much. My neck would not
hold an adjustment.
I called Dr. Walter Parish who was a classmate and friend of mine from Parker College. The difference between us was that he studied Dr. Morter's work as a student, and practiced B.E.S.T exclusively when he opened his practice in Tucson, Arizona. I went to him and received my first B.E.S.T. adjustment. It literally changed
my life...again, and altered the way I would practice chiropractic forever.
Both of my ankles were very tight and tender when he turned them. After the B.E.S.T. procedure not only did the tenderness and tension in my ankles dissipate completely, but nerve and muscle tension patterns that I had lived with for years relaxed as well! B.E.S.T. has helped me identify subconscious patterns that interfere with optimal nervous system function in my body, and has taught me how to stay in the moment so interference is created less often.
You see, there are three places that we can live.
We can live in the past, in the future or in the
moment. The only place to live, where healing can
occur, is in the moment. Anxiety is always present
if we are living in the past or living in the
future. Healing and anxiety can not occur
simultaneously.
I am eternally grateful to Dr. Morter for his curiosity and passion that led him to identify why chiropractic adjustments work and why sometimes they don't work. Why some people respond and others don't.
Personally, I have not received a spinal
manipulation in over ten years.
My practice is currently 100% B.E.S.T. I
will do spinal manipulations for patients upon
request, however, the primary emphasis of my
practice is to identify the cause of the
patient's problem, and then apply B.E.S.T. principles and technique to achieve optimal health for my patient."

Financial Manager
Tia has 23 years experience managing a
chiropractic office. She oversees the filing of
insurance claims on behalf of our patients, and the
maintenance of patient accounts. Tia stays current
on computer and insurance changes.
"I have been treated with the B.E.S.T. procedure
for over 20 years. Since my husband went back to be
updated in the procedure several years ago the changes
I have felt have been amazing.
When one of our children has a problem, like sleep,
etc. they get adjusted. When my body feels
imbalanced or uncomfortable, it's wonderful to have
something that works for me. I tell all of my
friends because I know this is the 'best' option
available! (No pun intended.)"

Roseann is originally from Rochester, New York but has lived in the Valley since 1969. Her background and training is in bodywork. She is a licensed massage therapist and also has attained the rank of Master in a specialized type of bodywork called Reiki. "I started working for Benner Chiropractic in December 2008. This was my first experience with the B.E.S.T. technique that Dr. Benner specializes in. I have had regular chiropractic adjustments for years, but was truly amazed at how incredible I felt, instantly, from B.E.S.T. My whole being felt lighter and I even felt taller!
Now after several months, and regular B.E.S.T. adjustments, I've become aware when I take my morning walks, that this unique mind/body technique has made subtle improved changes in my body. I truly enjoy being part of such a wonderful healing environment that demonstrates so much love and care for all the patients."
